The
Racing Driver by Don
The days
were long - and such a bore
I tried out all the women I could see
I went out nearly every night
to find one that would probably agree
I was chatting up this maybe bird
When leaning on the bar one night
and I saw the way she looked at me
- I was not at all a pretty sight
I ditched the bird and had a think
I resolved to change my life
It wasn't that I could go home
to a darlin little wife
A blinding light - it dazzled me
What a fascinating thought
A racing driver I would be
But first I would be taught
Early in the morning I went out to the shops
To buy the book on driving like an ace
I walked two inches off the ground
and shouted "Watch this space"
But first I had to build my car
from the top and down
For tyres, wheels and thingammyjigs
I hunted round the town
I cleared out all the garage
to give me all the space
to build the car just suitable
for the budding ace
I got out all the drawings
and sorted all me bits
and wondered loud at all the parts
in these little plastic kits
