The Cause
by Don
They
wander through the forest with their rifles and their flags
They leave a trail behind them as they go
A trail that you can follow if you want to take the chance
A chance that they might see you as their foe
They
dash around their offices with dedicated stride
With alarm and consternation in their wake
They have'nt time for pleasant word or a friendly glance
They've got to get the power that's there to take
They
dress up in their oldest clothes and lie down in the mud
To stop a JCB dead in its track
They'll forget their own children in their rush to make the
point
that a little bird might have its meadow back
They're
prepared to hussle others to change their point of view
With petitions they'll want for you to sign
But don't forget if you should dare to throw aside their handout
They'll persuade with stick to make you stand in line
On a
grander scale they'll band together under a national flag
And they'll argue with bullets as they gather for the fight
They'll be quite happy to end their lives with rifle in their
hands
Just to make the point that they are right
Who are
all these men and women who live their lives like this ?
Are they so very different from the crowd ?
Have they mortgages and gas bills just like you and me ?
How do they find the time to shout aloud ?
Well,
they're certainly not aliens or things from outer space
They dress their kids to look the same as yours
You would pass them in the street without a second glance
But they are so very different - because they have a Cause
