A
Spring Interruption
by Marci
You
may wonder...why write it? Why? Write it because someone cares.
It does matter.
It's
a beautiful...very busy Thursday morning.
Cars are flying, and I am running late.
The 18-wheeler is riding my bumper.
What is his problem?
I'll
wave him off.
('Get back, tailgater!')
My
journey now continues.
I'm almost there.
But wait...a quick glance as I slow down.
A beautiful, snowy-white sea gull quickly hops back to the grass.
And
then I see the reason for his perilous stand near that asphalt left
lane.
His mate lies in a bloody heap, by the curb...feathers being caressed
by a gentle breeze.
There
she lies...smashed, broken and bloody.
I continue on for I cannot stop, yet the memory will remain.
The world's the same except for one.
Another
interruption in flight, on a beautiful Spring day.
