Observing
Across
the road the flag was flying majestically, high on its pole.
There was a medium flow of traffic for 2:30 in the afternoon.
The lunch crowd at Ed's Restaurant had cleared out, and now
we have the snackers, coffee drinkers, and sundae eaters,
like me.
As
I looked out the window, a pair of crows flew over looking
for their afternoon snack. Probably going to Ruth's house.
She feeds the crows, and her neighbors protest loudly, for
they think crows should be shot. Ruth says that crows have
to eat too.
The
cars next door belong to ladies getting their hair cut, dyed
or curled. There's a woman in here telling the waitress about
a man having to choose between his drinking and his wife.
He chose his wife for now, she said. At another table they
are talking about different commercials that are on TV. They
got a big laugh about that insurance one where the big swan
says, "AFLAC."
It
was a short visit at Ed's, but the sundae and tea were enjoyable
and I went home satisfied.
