Our
Beautiful Children of Today
By Ruthe
We
elderly seniors of the yesteryears have many wonderful attributes
and much wisdom to instill in the souls of these children of today,
the trials and tribulations of the every day hassles are demanding
on our youth, these young people must accept it with an open mind,
knowing in their hearts these hectic happenings are opinions from
many people living around the World with their different cultures
and confusing religious beliefs. Our children of today will be the
foundation of this great country in the new century-- as my generation
was 100 years ago. We also had many hard times while growing up
in the last century, many good people starved during the " Great
Depression " we lost thousands of teen agers and many elderly men
and women because we could not afford Doctors. Our whole country
was suffering in so many ways, there was no jobs available this
causing a severe hunger to so many World wide. We were barely getting
back a better economy when " World War 11 " was declared--- what
a disaster this was to our young men and women ( teen agers ) thousands
of them being drafted and sent to fight the enemy---- we lost our
cream of the crop in this horrible war. I'm sure grandparents have
spent many hours telling of this terrible thing happening to our
Country. Those of us that survived and living now will never forget
those days of sheer stress--- plus our broken hearts. We still grieve
for our beautiful children who sacrificed their lives to make a
better America for the new generation that we are living in today.
There are many great opportunities for our youth of today in our
new century they will need parental guidance and with their own
perseverance will succeed. We seniors have unconditional love, faith
and trust in our young people, we know they'll become great citizens
and will be in charge of our great Country, they will never let
it be destroyed by Terrorists.
The
great things for me in getting older and at the ripe old age of
81 consist of so many wonderful things that has happened to me here
in my golden years, especially the kindness, trust and most of all---
the tremendous amount of genuine love from my 2 children and their
children (my grandchildren) . My excellent health has been a God-sent
to me, and I thoroughly enjoy life to it's fullest. There are times
when I feel guilty to see so many younger people suffering with
incurable diseases and their lives shattered with no light at the
end of the tunnel, and them knowing life will be shortened for them,
I think many times it should be me instead of those that are so
much younger than I, I'm assuming that God has plans for all and
he'll do what is right we must trust to his good judgment and continue
on with our journey.
Getting
older is rewarding to we seniors for having the wisdom that we can
very often share with so many younger people--- It's very gratifying
to us and we feel we've accomplished another milestone in our long
lives.
I
sincerely hope the wisdom of many seniors can become a sound effect
on the very younger generation, and they can achieve the wonderful
values that were instilled in us during our growing up years. I
do believe high moral's must be instilled in our young children
starting at their learning age, parents must administer good behavioral
habits in front of them teaching true love, trust, respect and gratitude.
My
parents were very strict but wonderful parents, and we children
did not have to be told but one time when our daddy would speak,
he never raised his voice and we never ever was given a spanking
from him, they reasoned with us and explained in detail our wrongdoing,
I will never forget one incident that happened to our baby sister
she was about 6 years old, she brought home from our corner grocery
store an English Walnut without paying for it--- while cracking
the nut and not knowing our daddy was watching-- he asked her if
she had paid for the walnut--- in his kind voice told her she would
have to return the walnut and must apologize to the store owner.
Daddy drove all of us to the store and insisted we watch her tell
Mr. Fulgenzi she had stolen the walnut and she is very sorry and
will never do this again. This not only was a lesson to her but
we other sisters sure learned a good lesson here too, we sisters
hugged her for having to do this and and told her she was a good
little girl and that God will bless her. Honesty was certainly instilled
in all three of us on that day, and to steal anything was absolutely
forbidden in our family, what an embarrassment this was to this
very young child but what a tremendous attribute was instilled in
all our young lives.
In
time to come our young children of today will appreciate this way
in teaching them, especially when they become older and are parents
themselves they will certainly want to raise their children the
same way that--- mom and dad did it back in their learning years.
We are very proud of our children of today and we suggest them using
the great recipe to achieve their future happiness with their dream
of tomorrow being completed.
